Six Signs I’m Addicted to the Internet

Posted on 29 January 2010

I was getting my digital fix when I stumbled upon this article. Apparently, signs of internet addiction include needing more internet, more of the time. And like, having withdrawals when you don’t get it.

Huh.

I don’t even know why I read the thing. Probably because it was on the internet. And I’m an addict.

Other symptoms include:

  • Checking email, Facebook and site stats on your phone, before you’ve even gotten out of bed in the morning.
  • Scrolling through some high school girl’s Tumblr,  then realizing you have absolutely no idea how you even got there.
  • Pretending to wait for a phone call so your boyfriend will let you hold onto your phone at dinner (then sneaking a peak at Twitter when he goes to the bathroom).
  • Driving said boyfriend—a techie, no less—to actually hate the internet.
  • Thinking of every funny phrase, expression or word in terms of its “dot com” potential (to be fair, meatsweats.com was one of my best ideas ever).
  • Spending all day online for work, then coming home to blog for fun. About your internet addiction.

What do you want from me? It’s a sickness. I’m sick.

And chances are if you’re actually reading this blog, you are too.

    Guilty as charged.
